Track 2 DOGWORKS:
Building a Professional Portfolio with Experience
Dogworks connects members with professional trainers who serve as mentors.
Members gain practical, hands-on experience while developing the skills needed to work professionally.
Members can:
Work alongside Mentor Trainers
Train rescue dogs
Build handling and behavior skills
Gain documented training hours
Work with fosters, adopters and rescues
Build a professional portfolio
The Goal: Learn. Practice. Build experience.
Turning Knowledge Into Real Experience
Dog training is a hands-on profession. Members need experienced professionals who can guide them as they develop.
Dogworks creates that bridge.
Members are matched with professional Mentor Trainers who can help them strengthen their existing skills, learn new techniques, and understand what professional dog training looks like in the real world.
Learning From Experienced Trainers
Working alongside a Mentor Trainer gives members the opportunity to observe, ask questions, practice, and receive feedback.
They can experience different dogs, behaviors, environments and training challenges while learning how experienced trainers approach each situation.
Just as importantly, members begin learning the professional side of the work — communication, reliability, client relationships, problem-solving and representing themselves as a trainer.
Real Dogs. Real Responsibility.
Where possible, members gain experience working with rescue dogs and the people caring for them. This creates meaningful training opportunities.
Building Proof of Experience
One of the biggest challenges for someone starting a career is being able to show what they have actually done.
Dogworks helps members build documented training hours and a professional portfolio that can demonstrate their growing experience.
Over time, this may include training records, photographs, videos, references, rescue partnerships, certificates and examples of dogs they have worked with.
The result is something tangible they can take into future employment or use when beginning their own training business.
From Student to Professional
Dogworks is the stage where members begin moving from learning about dog training to operating more like working professionals.
They are building confidence, experience, relationships and evidence of their ability — all under the guidance of people already established in the industry.
Learn the work. Practice the work. Build the experience to make it a career.
