Training Dogs For A Second Chance By People Living Their Second Chance
The United States has one of the highest rates of incarceration globally, with over 2.3 million people currently incarcerated, and an estimated 60% of formerly incarcerated individuals remaining unemployed one year after their release further perpetuates the cycle of poverty and incarceration.
In addition, according to the ASPCA, approximately 3.3 million dogs enter shelters every year, with only 1.6 million being adopted. This leaves over one million dogs to be euthanized or remain in shelters, where they often suffer from stress and behavioral issues
Dog's Train Home provides a unique solution to these interconnected issues by providing training to rescue dogs and using dog trainers who have previously been incarcerated and who have completed a prison dog training program. In addition we have a mentor program for candidates who have completed a prison dog training program with the Pawsitive Change program.

The goal is to help new trainers kick start their private dog training business and to train dogs in basic obedience.
Training Dogs For A Second Chance By People Living Their Second Chance
We prefer to work with the same trainer and rescue person for 2 to 3 dogs. This is because dog training is equally divided between training the dog and the person. If the same rescue person can attend multiple sessions with different dogs, we hope that the rescue will gain valuable training experience for other dogs coming through their doors. Furthermore, for the trainer, getting to know the rescue and showcasing their skills is fundamental to gaining future business and referrals to expand their business.

Isaac DeLaRose - Vice President & Mentor Trainer.
When Isaac was a boy he told his dad that he wanted to work with dogs. However, Isaac was incarcerated before this dream happened.
Isaac became a dog trainer graduate with the Marley's mutts program. He was a teacher/ mentor at NKSP for four rounds in the prison Pawsitive Change Program. Two years after his release, Isaac became a trainer for Pawsitive Change and a teacher of the program at Cal City Prison.
Isaac wants to give back to society by helping to educate dog owners and train dogs how to make good choices while living out a lifelong dream to work with dogs.

Our History
EST - CA - 2022
DogsTrainHome.com was set by Vix Lyttle the author of "Home Is Where The Pet Is" after meeting professional dog trainer Isaac DeLaRosa from PawSitiveDawg.com
Their paths crossed when Vix adopted Eli her Doberman Rottweiler mix. Eli had been a serenader after covid and was not doing well in the shelter. A good samaritan paid for Eli to be trained with Isaac while he was re-homed.
After hearing how the good samaritan and Isaac looked out for Eli, it made Vix wonder how could she help other dogs. Vix decided to donate copies of her book, "Home Is Where The Pet Is" as a gift to raise money for rescue dogs to get basic training. And so Dog's Train Home was created. This is a thank you from Vix to Isaac for not giving up on Eli.
In 2023 Isaac DeLaRose joined the board for Dog's Train Home.
