Meet Laurel

Laurel's story is not as tragic as some. She was bought from Craigslist by a guy who lived in an apartment and Laurel was to big with a lot of excitement. He was going to sell her back on Craigslist because she is a pure bread (with no papers), but a friend asked them to give her to Nikki at Mad Love Animal Rescue (follow in IG @MadLoveAnimalRescue ). The guy agreed to sell Laurel to Mad Love for $150.
Laurel is living with Nikki in her house. There is another dog who Mad love pulled from a kill shelter and put into kennel boarding because he is reactive. By putting Laurel into training with our charity means that Baker, the reactive dog can come into Nikki's house and decompress. By donating to Laurel you have actually helped Baker too.
Shelter and kennels are highly stressful. Sometimes being in a home and decompressing can stop some unwanted behaviors and then Mad Love will see what they are really working with.

Laurel starts training in January for one month. A forever home is found and she goes directly from training to her new home.

A positive meet and greet with Laurel and her trainer Isaac from PawsitiveDawg today. She has started her months training ready for a forever home. Nikki from Mad Love will be looking for an adopter so that Laurel can hopefully go from Isaac to her new home.

Laurel's first week as gone very well. She is only 6 months with lots of puppy energy but she is understanding her training and following the program with no issues. This week she has been learning sit, down, stay and come. And she has started leash training.

Jan 21st 2023
When Laurel goes to her forever home she needs to be confident with day to day human activity and noises. Isaac took her to Walmart for training (this Walmart is happy for dogs to be in the store). Laurel is now confident in this environment.
Feb 7th 2023
It was a tense moment when Laurel met her new family because they already have a dog. Like people not everyone gets along. But all went well and off she went to her forever home.
